Meet Dr. Rami Abdou

Dr. Rami is a graduate of the University of California Davis where he completed his Bachelors of Science and the Boston University School of Medicine where he received both his Masters degree and Medical Doctorate. While in medical school he received several awards for both his academic and research endeavors including the prestigious Poplack Award for excellent patient care and competence in medicine. He was inducted into the highly selective Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and earned the Gold Humanism in Medicine award.

He completed his residency training in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Rutgers University in New Jersey, having served as Chief Resident during his fifth year of training. There he trained amongst world-class surgeons and expert clinicians, published in numerous medical journals including the prestigious Otolaryngology Clinics, and presented numerous research projects at a several national meetings. He is considered an effective teacher having taught university-level courses and presented academic talks at numerous Grand Rounds presentations.

Dr. Rami has traveled and practiced extensively through the country – earning numerous accolades from his mentors, teachers, and colleagues as a compassionate and competent clinician and surgeon. He has a keen interest in the entire breadth and scope of Otolaryngology with particular interest in Nasal and Sinus related conditions and Endoscopic Sinus Surgery and office procedures. He also specializes in Head & Neck surgery – particularly surgery of the thyroid, parathyroid and saliva glands. Sleep disturbance is another area of interest, particularly treatment approaches to Obstructive Sleep Apnea. He is a recipient the ‘Top Doctors’ Award and recognized amongst ‘Super Doctors Top Southern California Rising Stars’ and among physicians selected for the “Best in California’ magazine.

Outside of clinic and the operating room, Dr. Rami is passionate about community engagement, physical fitness and nutritional wellness. He is an avid cyclist having done AIDS/Lifecycle event twice – a 545-mile ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles that seeks to raise funds in support of organizations working to treat and support patients with HIV and AIDS. He is a budding chef, enjoys traveling, exploring the beautiful California outdoors and spending time with his dog Enzo.
